Valentine's Day Plans

I hope all you guys have great plans for your sweetheart this Saturday because when your wives and girlfriends hear what I've got in mind for Monique this year, they are going to demand that you top it.

Now in truth, Monique and I aren't much for these sorts of Hallmark holidays that are generally overblown by commercialism. Oh, there may be a card or a few flowers, but usually we both consider the most important thing to be that we appreciate each other throughout the year, not just on one particular day.

But this year, I've got something special planned --

-- guys, really, if you're reading over your sweetheart's shoulder you should stop her right now before you go on because she'll be jealous --

-- anyway, this year I've got something extra-special planned for Valentine's Day. I'm going to bring Monique to a gathering of 50,000 drunks and let her watch grown men beat each other for the crowd's amusement. No, I haven't developed a time machine to bring us back to the Roman Coliseum for Gladiator Night. We're off the the USA Sevens rugby tournament in San Diego.

Do I know how to romance a girl, or what?

It was really only well after travel plans had been made and tickets had been purchased that I realized that the first day of the tournament is on Valentine's Day. Fortunately, nothing sez "Be My Valentine" like a "Fiji Rugby #1" cap, right? Right?

  1. Oh my gosh John. You are hilarious. Tell Monique I said hi! Love the beard!

Bring some warm weather back please.

  2. We all know Monique is a lucky lady. Maybe if she's extra lucky she'll get splashed with some stranger's blood while standing on the sidelines.

  3. More likely Monique will get splashed with some stranger's beer while standing on the sidelines.

  4. NOTHING AND I MEAN NOTHING SAYS, "I love you" LIKE A FIJI CAP.

Except a Detroit Jersey with your name on the back that she got you for a wedding present.
