Gettysburg Family in Wolverine Lake: Friday Fun

Lots of pictures from yesterday's day of mostly fun with Gettysburg Family. So buckle up, and come along for the ride.

We start with the traditional beagle haiku.

To the beagle nose
The scent of phlox is just ... not
The scent of rabbit.

Now, on to fun in the lake!

Lexi and Atlee.

Could anything possibly be more fun than Barbies and swimming, all at the same time?

Shea and Malcolm, swinging on the island.

Rich's version of fun: organizing sockets!

I'm not sure why Henry and Greeley were watering the canoe, but they seemed to be having fun, too. So, um, okay.

Now we enter the not-so-fun part of this blog post, wherein we had two not-so-fun incidents. I start by saying she's just fine, but Susan slipped and fell on her face while she was chasing down Greeley. It was a bit scary for everybody. She got a split lip and a puffy nose, but is basically okay.

Here she is, recovering:

Katie the Beagle also had a moment of not-fun-ness. It started with a moment of extreme fun, when she found some goose poop and rolled in it. Alas for Katie, that led to the not-fun-for-Katie of a bath

Here she is, recovering:

Let the record show that Susan's suffering was much more unfair that Katie's suffering, which was entirely self-inflicted.

We move on from our convalescents, who are both feeling much better today, and back to the fun.

The assault on Wolverine Lake's bass population continued:

This is just to prove that we haven't done away with Monique. She's just not in the photos because she took most of the photos:

Greeley in a moment of photo-shyness.

Henry, Shea, and Malcolm, fishing from the bridge.

Greeley on the swingset.

Lexi and Atlee on the swingset.

And now, the great accomplishment of the day. The Patio Boat can now bask in the pride of a dock that is no longer falling in the water.

The heroes of the dock repair (l-r) John, Mike, Jeff, and Rich. Two of these heroes wakeboard regularly, and two of these heroes are pale, pasty Irishmen. I leave it to you, the observant Patio Boat viewer, to decide which is which.

The real hero of the dock repair is Rich, who figured it all out, and really did all the work. I mostly caddied, and Mike and Jeff came over to provide some much-needed muscle when it was time to lift the dock back out of the water.

After a day of fun at the lake, we were off to watch the Tigers play the White Sox!

Shea, Atlee, and Rich overlooking the field.

Susan, Greeley, Henry, and Malcolm in the stands.

Shea, Atlee, Monique, Henry, and Malcolm are off on an expedition to go ride the ferris wheel.

New Detroit Tiger hats! Atlee and Shea...

... and Greeley in a little series I like to call, "Trying to figure out what this silly thing is for."

Is it a glove? No....

Is it a bib? No....

Does it go on Daddy's arm? No....

Hey, now here's an idea that's so crazy it just might work.

And after the Tigers beat the evil White Sox, Fireworks!

After a long day of fun, bedtime buddies:

Atlee and Katie the Beagle.

And that's the Friday Fun report from Wolverine Lake. What new adventures will today bring? Who knows? But we leave you with one final photo...

CHEERS!

  1. Looks like you all are having a wonderful time! Awesome! Fun with kids. Sorry about your face, G'Mom. When you first mentioned Ms. Jolie's lips, I thought you might have put on some deet and done the "wiping deet in your mouth thing." Ever done that? I bet you have. Nice to finally visit Patio Boater! My trip here was long overdue.
