It bills itself as America's largest weekly classic car cruise. Judging from the crowd I saw this Sunday afternoon at Baker's in Milford, they may be right. Last week we had snow flurries and a high of 40 degrees around Detroit, but today was a beautiful 70 degree day, the best Sunday of the year so far.
All the fun cars came out to play. There are tons of Corvettes, Mustangs, and assorted muscle cars. But you can also see some pretty unusual items, too.
Let's take a walk through the throng to see a few that I particularly enjoyed.
One of the great things about Baker's is that it's a really random assortment of cars, so you see a lot of cars fairly randomly interspersed. For example, here we have the FUN MG next to a Plymouth Road Runner, a pairing probably not seen in a parking lot since the 1970s.
1961(?) Corvette.
AMC Ambassador station wagon.
MG TF.
Mk I Jaguar XKE aka a Jaguar E-Type.
C2 Corvette roadster (1963-67).
1934 Bugatti Type 59 replica.
That's a whole lotta nitrous in those tanks.
707 hp Dodge Challenger Hellcat.
The paint job on this looked great. It was a color-shifting metallic paint.
Hot Rods.
Looking for something off the beaten path? They don't get farther off that path than this 1975 Bricklin SV-1.
Mercedes convertible.
MG TD.
Panther Pink Plymouth Duster.
And then, a 1950s trailer park broke out.
1973 Dodge Challenger.
Studebaker Hawk.
1937 Cord.
And then there were rat rods....
Maybe not a rat-rod per se, but definitely a dirty wagon.
Next to the rat rods, a full classic, a 1941 Cadillac convertible:
Ford GT.
Lamborghini.
The final car of the batch is this very cool rat-rod VW Beetle.
We close with a couple pictures of all the cars and people...
If you live around Detroit and like cool cars, it's definitely worth stopping by for a look. Even if you don't own a particularly cool car, you can always stop in, park in one of the side lots, and check out the assortment. Great fun and great viewing.

British Car Spring Gathering at Camp Dearborn
The last MG club event was pretty much snowed out, but a beautiful 70-degree spring day greeted this year's Spring British Car Gathering at Camp Dearborn in Milford, Michigan. The spring gathering is an entirely informal all-marques event, just an opportunity to get the car out and enjoy a little fellowship on a (hopefully) nice May day.
